Meet Your Instructor
Lisa McVay
Your instructor, Lisa McVay, brings over 20 years of experience in the pet care and grooming industry. She began her career as a veterinary technician after completing the Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) program at Pierce College in California.
Following her work in veterinary medicine, Lisa attended a professional grooming academy in California, where she competed her education to become a Professional Pet Groomer. She later earned additional certification through the AKC/NDGAA in Non-Sporting Breeds, further expanding her expertise. She has also completed continued education courses in Geriatric Grooming, Canine CPR, Canine Massage, Creative Grooming, Asian Fusion Grooming, Drop-Coated Breeds, Terriers and more.
Lisa is the owner and operator of both a mobile pet grooming business - Canine Kisses, and XO Pet Grooming and Academy, LLC, where she combines her love of animals, technical knowledge, and passion for teaching to help the next generation of groomers succeed.
As an active member of the AKC National Dog Groomers Association of America and the California Professional Pet Groomers Association (CPPGA), where she stays current on the latest grooming techniques, tools, breed standards, and evolving grooming laws. As well as continues her studies toward becoming a Certified Master Groomer. Her combination of veterinary knowledge and grooming expertise provides students with top-tier, safety-focused instruction.
